After using Delicious for the first time, I am very excited about the opportunities it presents. I have so many bookmarks on my home computer, though I am often stuck without access to these valuable links. It looks like this problem will not exist anymore!
As I work through the iKnow class, I feel that I have already gained an incredible amount of new technology skills. While I feel more connected than ever, I am placing myself in yet another new arena for social networking.
I upgraded from a desktop to laptop computer when I entered graduate school in 2006. The portability of a laptop allowed me to feel connected whenever I kept my computer with me. Well, it is not practical to keep a laptop in my possession at all times. As I finish the current school year, I'm taking the next step. Even though I enjoy learning new technology, I have been intimidated to move beyond what my laptop can offer.
Neverthess, I have decided to upgrade from your standard cell phone to a smartphone. I am both excited and nervous about the prospects it provides. While I love the idea of being able to browse the internet, send email, and have a gps unit in one device, I am also afraid of being overwhelmed. The learning curve will undoubtedly be intimidating, but I'm hoping to embrace the new experience!
Wow, I never planned on creating my own blog. For some reason, it is still difficult for me to think blogs are legitimate sources of information. I have always thought that blogs were places for self-centered individuals to write about their daily lives (similar to Twitter, Facebook, etc.). I eventually changed my opinion of Facebook, so now it is obviously time to change this overly critical perspective about blogs!
Because of my limited experience with blogs, it is going to be difficult to determine how a blog can fit into my life and/or work. Nevertheless, I will attempt to use this space as a place to document my experiences as I increase my technological knowledge.
